On the same day that George Zimmerman’s painting raked in over $100,000 on eBay, artist Micheal D’Antuono was told by the same online auction company that his artistic interpretation of the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin confrontation violated eBay’s Hateful or Discriminatory policy and was removed from the website. eBay OKs 100K Sale of Zimmerman Painting, While Removing “A Tale of Two Hoodies” Piece

Here’s one for the Irony Department. This weekend George Zimmerman’s painting sold for $100,099.00 on eBay, the very same weekend that artist Michael D’Antuono’s “A Tale of Two Hoodies” was removed by the online auction company.

Here is what D’Antuono said on his Facebook page:

I’m sad to announce that ebay removed my “A Tale Of Two Hoodies” auction from their site. They allowed George Zimmerman to profit from his crime, yet I was denied the opportunity to speak out against racism & help victims. As the bidding started to gain momentum, passing the $25,000 mark, they took it off, deeming my auction “hateful and discriminatory.” If their stance seems wrong to you, feel free to share. (more…)

obamaMichael es un artistazo, que cita a Picasso en su web y pinta maravillas como la que ven bajo estas líneas, y que piensa subastar en eBay a beneficio de los soldados heridos en la guerra contra el terror (sospecho que no se refiere al pictórico…)

No se crean que es la primera vez que nuestro Michael D’Antuono hace de las suyas, no. Hace unos meses pretendió colgar otra de sus pinturas en una plaza neoyorquina, aunque al final prefirió no hacerlo, por aquello de no ofender a los católicos:

Conservative Christ illustrates America’s evil Jesus

The Conservative ChristThe latest work by American artist Michael D’Antuono has once again drawn ire from US conservatives for pointing out the hypocrisy amongst their ranks.

His latest work, The Conservative Christ, depicts Jesus with an AK-47 hoisted into their air, clutching tightly to a pot of gold, and sneering derisively at a poor, old man. By illustrating precisely what Jesus would not do, D’Antuono draws attention to the awkward dissonance between Conservative’s sociopolitical beliefs and their supposed adherence to Christian values.

It was in an attempt to understand this conflict that inspired him to create the work. (more…)
