Bad Apple

(Genetically Modified Food)
40″ x 30″ | oil on canvas

Some say that Monsanto has monopolized our food supply and persuaded our government to look the other way when it comes to the safety of their product. Specifically when it comes to genetically modified food. The agricultural giant has lobbied hard to get congress not to pass a bill requiring the labeling of GMOs. Makes you wonder why don’t they want you to know what your eating.

I was thinking that if the witch had offered Snow White a genetically modified Monsanto apple, it might take more than a kiss from a prince to revive our heroin.

Christine Rietsch Yeah–and when people like me are out trying to change people’s minds about “Christianity being the only one”, images like this come out. We need to stop pushing the stereotype of a witch out to do harm to people. Most of us are not.

This makes Witches seem like bad people ~ and usually they
    are NOT ~

    Ariëtte Loeffen
    but…surely this is not a witch but a ‘monsantdisguise’…

    Rob W
Should do one of the Garden of Eden, with the Monsanto serpent promising Adam & Eve “food security” if they eat the GMO apple.

    Mary K
It IS creepy, but Monsanto is terrifying!

    Rosa B
I really like it. congratulations on a nice piece of art. This movement against Monsanto is not going away anytime soon. I’m that you can
create more art work around that. I would love to be able to use this piece of work and any others you create.

Only thing is that the apple in the bible is all the knowledge
that Christianity is afraid of. But still, a good one.

    Cindy F
This isn’t biblical — more like Snow White and the poison apple.

    Rudy V
You should put the labels of corporations that are using gmos

    Marie D
In all holy books God guides to live off the land. If we were satisfied, it would quickly be a garden paradise solving the many problems
we created with our glorified slavery lifestyle. God warned not to sow mingled (hybrid) seed. Monsanto etc. are selling seeds around the world which will not reproduce true seeds; that keeps the people enslaved. Repent, and escape the wisdom and greed of this world before we end in extinction etc.

    Canyon T
I don’t know which I’m more afraid of, the witch or the shiny genetically modified apple

    Neelpadma S
the apple for sure….. evil magic can be cured with true love’s kiss, but geneticallyengineered foods stuff you forever

    Kristina D
You couldn’t have nailed this any better! This SCREAMS poison without using the words or letters to spell it out. Bravo for an
incredible advertisement for an ever better cause. Sad though that it is even needed.. it’s a sad state of affairs when we are now afraid of the food we eat and feed to our children AND the thought of our beloved country’s government permitting it. Keep up the fight!

    Christine R
Nothing like equating my religion with evil. Thanks a lot.

    Darla H
this should be the poster for the march, EXCELLENT

    Duane S
Pure evil!! Like the human heart is capable of being! Cold…Hard…Defiant! MONSANTO!!!

    Dante O
So it takes a picture for people to start questioning the ethics of corporations? If you fools would actually READ about what’s going on and not just stare at pictures…. I bet most of you don’t even know what this represents.

    Sue A
I think most of us have done the reading. We are just commenting on how powerful an image can be at representing the evil of one corporation. This taps into our archetypes of evil, which is brilliantly clever and highly effective. It conveys a greater sense of menace and unadulterated evil that hundreds of lines of text.

    Edward G
Come on Guys lots of Rhetoric here, First off let me Say Religion is Man Made as are Corporations. You must always keep that in mind For following the teaching of Christ come from within the heart, Not some list of hypocritical rules, In some building somewhere that calls itself a Church. Organized Religion as Well as Corporations have become way too powerful. Follow your hearts you know whats right, As for this Image straight from the pages of Sleeping Beauty…..

    Linda C…there are other
people besides you who are aware of what’s going on

    Liz C
It is a proven fact that images carry more impact then words. When you find the image that is the absolute right metaphor….. Priceless!

    Connor K

    Monsanto doesn’t sell apples
Every apple we eat, and have eaten for hundreds of years has been genetically modified from the original wild varieties. All of the new varieties we see in the stores are genetic modifications.
    Aside from that,….
