Michael was one of a very select group of artists selected to exhibit at the inaugural Politicon, a Comic-Con type event for politics, held at the Los Angeles Convention Center October 9-10, 2015. This short video shows Michael at the event making new fans out of Daily Show host, Trevor Noah, former presidential candidate, Dennis Kucinich, former chairman of the Republican National Committee, Michael Steele, several political pundits, television stars and regular folk at the inaugural Politicon event.

On this video, you’ll see Cenk Uygur, former MSNBC host and co-founder of The Young Turks, Touree of MSNBC’s “The Cycle,” Daily Show correspondent, Jordan Klepper, co-host of Newsmax TV’s “The Daily Wrap, Rick Ungar, VEEP’s Mat Walsh and others reacting to D’Antuono’s provocative political paintings. At the convention, Michael met with people in the VIP lounge and signed posters at his booth. Also at Politicon, were Newt Gingrich, Michelle Bachman, Ann Coulter, John Avlon, James Carville, David Axelrod, Paul Begala, Joe Klein, Alex Wagner, Doris Kerns Goodwin, Jose Antonio Vargas, Alex Castellanos, John Fugelsang, and Black Lives Matter. People from Slate, News Max, The Daily Beast, Vice News, The Huffington Post, Newsweek, Salon, Breitbart and ThinkProgress attended.

Corpocracy Exhibition Opening 10/10/15

First conceived by Michael back in 2010, the Corpocracy exhibition will open at the Station museum this Oct. 10th. The exhibition focused on the corporate co-opting of democracy, will feature an international who’s who of activist artists including Michael, Ron English, Clark Fox, Dread Scott, Eugenio MerinoKenneth Tin-Kin HungPackard JenningsSteve LambertMark LombardiYoshua OkónStephanie SyjucoJudi Werthein and the Beehive Design Collective.

Only the Station museum’s famed maverick director, Jim Harrington would be brave enough to host such hard-hitting, anti-corporate exhibit in the  very heart of oil country, Houston, Texas. Conservative Christ illustrates America’s evil Jesus

The Conservative ChristThe latest work by American artist Michael D’Antuono has once again drawn ire from US conservatives for pointing out the hypocrisy amongst their ranks.

His latest work, The Conservative Christ, depicts Jesus with an AK-47 hoisted into their air, clutching tightly to a pot of gold, and sneering derisively at a poor, old man. By illustrating precisely what Jesus would not do, D’Antuono draws attention to the awkward dissonance between Conservative’s sociopolitical beliefs and their supposed adherence to Christian values.

It was in an attempt to understand this conflict that inspired him to create the work. (more…)
